Mentorship

Med student I recruited over lunch, now my friend.

I met Torunn Yock when she was a medical student. I took her to lunch, something I rarely did, because I wanted her to join our residency program. Luckily, she did! I was Torunn’s mentor when she was a trainee and later as an attending and colleague.

Eventually she became my teacher. In my last years in the clinic, I leaned on her constantly. Torunn now studies the life that comes after the cure —"quality of life”, the years a child gets to live.

She carries the work forward.

Today we are going for a walk- just two friends enjoying some summer downtime.
